At ecopeco® your wellbeing is our first priority. Yes, we make tools for crafters, artists, sewers, quilters and creators so it may sound strange to read that we place your health and wellbeing on such a high pedestal. But it’s true. If we were not able to prioritize health in making ecopeco® cutting mats, we wouldn’t make them. It’s that simple.
Our commitment to you is realized primarily through our choice of materials. While most cutting mats are made from PVC, ecopeco® cutting mats are made from 100% recyclable PP (polypropylene). This point is key. Most cutting mats are made from PVC, which requires softening through the use of harmful chemicals which contain phthalates. This is why so many PVC cutting mats release an unpleasant odor.
Here’s Why This Matters
These plasticizers are vital to creating the self healing qualities of a cutting mat, a feature of most cutting mats available today. ecopeco® cutting mats however, aren’t made from PVC and don’t need to be treated with chemicals to soften the layers of PP.
At ecopeco® we take great pride in the fact that we are able to provide cutting mats that offer incredible functionality while not causing toxic harm to you, your loved ones or our planet. ecopeco® cutting mats consist of 5 layers which work in combination to provide optimum performance and eco-friendly functionality:
As a consequence of our commitment to your health and wellbeing, your experience using an ecopeco® cutting mat will be different to your experience with any cutting mat you’ve used before.
We are especially proud of the self healing qualities of our mats; it is this feature that allows us to double down on our commitment to your health, and the health of the planet. We protect you by refusing to use PVC and the associated plasticizers, and we do our part for the planet by producing self healing cutting mats that we hope will serve you for many years to come.
