Trying Times are for Trying

Our world has been thrown upside down, and we're all in the process of adjusting to this inverted reality we'll be living through for the foreseeable future.

When global events-good or bad- take place, we as humans often attempt to get our heads around the nature and scope of such events. Coronavirus however, is another beast altogether and there is so much we'll never fully understand about this virus and its impact on our planet. And while it is important to know the facts so that you are better prepared, reading the news regarding COVID-19 can be overwhelming and can cause unnecessary levels of anxiety.

What to do? Well, we're just as concerned as the next person and we want to be able to protect ourselves and our loved ones. So we're still going to follow the latest developments and the ever-growing set of facts about the virus. We are not however, going to allow ourselves to slide down the internet rabbit hole.

We're going to identify the knowledge that is relevant to us and focus on that. Focus on knowing how best to protect ourselves and those in our care. Yes, it remains important to know how situations are evolving around the world, but if we're to read every headline screaming at us from the screen, we'll soon be returning to feelings of anxiety, fear and helplessness.

So, in order to work towards knowing just the right amount, we're going to set a time limit for reading about COVID-19. Whatever that time frame looks like for you, is your decision, but we're going to strive to:

  • Limit our time spent reading about the virus
  • Ensure we don't read about it first thing in the morning
  • Ensure we don't go to sleep with coronavirus ringing in our ears
  • Focus on what we can control
  • Focus on eating healthy and exercising
  • Living in the present

And we're going to continue crafting! In fact, we're going to dedicate more time to creating, crafting and making whatever makes our hearts happy.
